Test Drive Meme

A quick rundown

Welcome to the S.S. Panic's Test Drive Meme! Here, you can post a top level post and/or respond to other characters in a variety of situations! As you will find if you glance at the map, the ship is a spider-shaped city that is essentially self-sustaining. It's powered by the Infinite Improbability Drive, which when in use allows for the improbable (and impossible!) to happen and become, well, possible!

Below, you will find an example of what a typical monthly job post will look like. To encourage tagging each other, characters who apply to the game after this test drive meme will earn 100 credits per tag they give to someone else. Considering that new refugees are only given a small amount of money to get them started (around 500 credits), this could be huge!

Normally, job posts (currently empty) will be posted on the last day of the month. Characters can begin working the jobs they sign up for on the 1st of the next month. These jobs will be posted early for the Test Drive Meme and can be considered the official jobs of the month.

For now, all jobs will be the lowest paying jobs at Level 5. As the months go on, Level 4, 3, 2 and 1 jobs will be added appropriately. All characters will begin at Level 5 except in very special, rare situations. Keep in mind that some jobs will remain a constant in job postings (Education, for example) while others will change monthly. Also, players may hire other characters themselves in the future through hiring page. Ordinarily, some jobs will have limited slots, but for the purposes of the Test Drive Meme, all jobs come equipped with unlimited slots.

Finally, if you choose to, you can make whatever happens during the Test Drive Meme game canon if you apply and you are accepted into the game. However, this is not required and if you don't want it to be canon but the players of your character's new CR do and vice versa, this is space with wormholes and the IID. Multiple instances of your character is possible, at least for this month.

If you have questions about how the game works, you can look at the gameplay page or post a question to the FAQ page. Remember, you don't have to post your character doing a job. You can have them arguing about the Babelfish, going shopping, having a fist fight with an alien, etc. The important thing is to have fun!

[ Look, Aomine gets it: the porn industry sells anywhere-- he's even shelled out a considerable lot of money on a collection of gravure magazines, really-- so it should come as no surprise that aliens aren't any different. But plant porn? Seriously? He's seen some weird kinks in his young life, but even he can't see the appeal there.

Well, whatever, not his business. He's not here to judge, he's only here to sell, so wherever you were planning to go, here's a 192cm wall of a teenager blocking your way. ]

Yo. [ He all but shoves the comic on the unsuspecting victim's face. ] Wanna take a peek at some hot and slick R-rated action?

[ Even though this is the sort of job that might suit a girl better, Aomine can't say he's doing too bad for himself; sometimes he fumbles with a ball of fluff in his hands, too big and unused to dealing with such tiny delicate creatures, and maybe he has scared off a customer or two in a fit of rage, but otherwise he gets along well enough with the wide variety of cutesy animals demanding his attention. Felines are especially drawn to him, for some odd reason; a sense of kinship, maybe?

Too bad for this overgrown human cat, a customer comes in right as he's getting ready for a nap. It might take a little shake or several, but eventually, he turns his attention to the newcomer. ]

Wanna try one? They're small and warm and mostly harmless.

[ Mostly. ]

[Nao says it almost immediately, though there's too much mirth in his words for it to sound like suspicion. He had wandered close out of curiosity, and because currently jobless and in dire need of a distraction from aliens. Not quite what he expected, but it was good enough.

He's careful not to run onto any tails with his wheelchair, since who knows if they really are harmless or not, canting his head to the side.]

I should probably worry about that statement, shouldn't I? [He says with a soft laugh, not quite getting any cats for now.]

Mostly. [ It bears repeating, and he adds a lazy nod for emphasis. Naturally, these are all tiny creatures, and Aomine is enough of a huge guy that even bigger animals could be kept under his control - provided he actually gives a damn about doing his job, at least - but he happens to know another equally huge guy with a crippling fear of puppies, so one can never be too sure. ]

I mean, the puppies will get a bit excited and maybe nibble on you a little, but that's the worst they'll do. [ And he proceeds to pick one up as to further elaborate on his claims; all the tiny golden retriever does, though, is to wag its tail and try to lick his hand. This should be a good one. ] The cats are kinda assholes, though. The either like you or hate you, and even when they do like you, the little shits might scratch if they don't feel like playing. But I guess some people like that.

[ Yes, some people do, indeed, like asshole cats. Much to his luck, really. ]

Ah-- well, then. Puppies are more of my type, anyway.

[Well, that, and they're friendlier. It reminds him a bit of some people, but he would rather not dwell on that when the implications of being here means that he might not see them again. There's always a possibility, he's told, but it doesn't necessarily mean he'll forget the lack of it as well.]

Which do you prefer of the two?

[He knows too many people who would definitely prefer cats. There are enough strays being played with to justify this.]

Good choice. [ It's one of the few things he picked up in the half hour he was actually awake during work training, though he definitely forgets the "friendly smile" that is supposed to go with the encouragement. Ah well, not like he's aiming for employee of the month, anyway.

(He is, at least, gentle enough when placing the puppy on Nao's lap, though it's more for the dog's sake than out of any courtesy he might have with his customers. But it's a start.) ]

I guess... dogs have more energy. [ He gives the question a moment's thought, sparing an idle glance towards the multitude of fluffy critters crowding around them. ] I've met a really cool puppy that liked playing basketball before. That little guy is my favorite.

That's a first. I had a neighbor who had a dog once that kept trying to steal another neighbor's baseballs.

[A puppy that liked playing basketball? It was a cute thought, and he immediately chuckles even as he rubs the head of the puppy in his lap. It reacts by nipping at his fingertips, but it was hardly aggressive-- more like playing with him.]

A friend of yours then? The owner.

Yeah, but baseballs are smaller, right? Easier for a dog to play fetch with and stuff.

[ Or at least, that's the kind of dog logic he follows, though Aomine would like to meet more animals with a fondness for sports, even if not basketball. ]

But yeah, I know the owner, too. [ His train of thought is interrupted for a second as another puppy yips up at him, teeth tugging at his pants; he tries to shush it once, but the dog only yips right back, louder this time, so Aomine has to choice but to kneel down and give it belly rubs as a peace offering. ] Met the puppy before I knew he belonged to Tetsu, though he did remind me of someone at the time. I just couldn't figure out who.

I don't think size matters when they want to play. It's all a matter of what they can do with it, right?

[He says easily, rolling the puppy on its back on his lap so he can rub at its belly instead. It was fussy, but not as much as kittens would be. The puppy at least seems to enjoy the miniature roughhousing.]

Did you ever figure out who it reminded you of...?

[Rei was going to keep on walking, but he had to admit, he was interested in the idea of a shop that apparently sold fluffy animal hugs.

Though it would seem the shopkeeper is asleep. That's a bit irresponsible of him! Rei shakes his shoulder a couple times, harder each time.]

Ah... can I really pet any one?

[He looks around, a bit unsure. There are animals everywhere.]

[ Who is this motherfucker disturbing his nap-- oh, right. He's supposed to be working, isn't he? ]

Ahn...? Sure. [ He's not even sure what he's saying "sure" to, to be perfectly honest. Give him a minute to yawn and stretch his arms and maybe crack his neck a little, see if he can shake any of that drowsiness off. What is he supposed to do with all these critters, again...? ]

You should be hugging them, actually, but some of these fuckers aren't feeling very cuddly right now. [ Yes, he's looking at the kittens. They are truly his kin. ] But you can try the puppies or bunnies. They'll let you do anything.

[Rei frowns at the rude language, but then looks at the puppies. They're quivering with excitement, especially a little lab puppy that nips playfully at Rei's shoes.]

I'm not really the sort of person who hugs animals.

[But will the puppy be sad if he doesn't? It looks up at him and yips.]

Although, I have read that petting dogs can be very therapeutic.

[He kneels down, trying not to smile as the overexcited puppy twirls in a circle and falls down.]

[ Aomine gives the guy a look over, wondering what kind of person he is, if not the type who hugs animals. Are all meganes the same? Because he distinctly remembers Midorima as the type of person who acted like he had a stick up his ass the whole time... ]

I don't know about therapeutic, but it's kinda fun. [ He decides to bite back any snide remarks about his personal impressions of the guy, figuring that probably wouldn't be very good business practice. A small glimmer of common sense, really. ] Besides, look at the little dude, it's basically begging for you to pick him up. How can you say no to that face?

[ Granted, Aomine is quite the expert at saying no to cute begging faces. But dogs are special. ]

[Rei has to admit, the puppy is begging at this point. Well, he can't disappoint it, right?

He reaches down and picks it up, and he can't help but giggle as the puppy licks at his face in excitement. He pulls it in close to his chest, petting it as it wiggles around. He has to admit, he feels happy, giving the puppy attention.]

Ah, I guess it's enjoying this.

[He's still trying to keep some pretense that he isn't enjoying this.]

...no thank you.

[ Well this is a. Tall. Specimen. And hes shoving porn in her face.

Now that's not to say that Sala has any real distaste for porn in all its strange and wonderful varieties, but she's really not shopping for anything of the sort, and she holds a hand up to push the comic out of her way. ]

And do not push your luck.

[ Sorry, lady, but "pushing his luck" is quite literally in the job description. How else is he supposed to wear customers down? ]

You sure? [ He's at least courteous enough not to physically shove the comic in her face again, though he does give her an inspecting look: her D cups are pretty nice, but the weird outfit tells him she must be one of those cosplayers types. What kind of shit do otaku girls like...? ] There's a cool plot and romance and shit. I think.

[ He... admittedly hasn't looked past the erotic plant imagery just yet, what an upstanding salesperson. ]

[ Possibly just by being unavoidably huge. ]

You don't even know what it's about?

[ Other than like. Plants. Plants doing people. That much is obvious and it's not really her thing, although it's not terribly not her thing either. ]

I don't know that plants are very good at romance - but I am quite new here after all.

[ If this is unavoidably huge, she should meet one of his former teammates; the guy is even taller than Aomine. ]

Look, I'm not paid to read it, I'm just here to sell it. [ Which doesn't make a lot of sense from a salesperson perspective, but in his defense, he barely got a couple of hours worth of job training-- and managed to stay awake for even less. ] I mean, I'm new here, too, and I'm more of a regular girl on girl action type of guy, anyway, but if they're printing this out, then I'm guessing they gotta have an audience, right?

[ She might need her mech to deal with that one. ]

Mm. Fair enough, I suppose, although it seems to negatively impact your ability to sell it.

[ Not that she really cares all THAT much. ]

Alas, the audience is not me. Girl on girl action is your preference, though?

[ This is not what she expected to find when she rounded the corner, a wall of earthling teenage boy. None the less, while she's momentarily distracted by her guide it seems a walking, talking tree with blue hair manages to get the jump on her. That's pretty impressive, but not wise.

Star lets out a startled squeak, drops her guide to clatter on the floor, and (completely on reflex, she'll swear) ALMOST blasts the comic right out of Aomine's hand. As it is she just manages to reign it in at the last second, eyes and hands all glowing intensely. There's definitely a flustered, trill in her voice as her eyes dart up, wide, to glue onto his, slowly losing their glow. She sounds pretty meek at the moment. ]

... Um... pardon me, but I fear you are mistaken. Does the R-rating not exclude juveniles whom fall below the the age of eighteen? If so, I must warn you that am not yet permitted to look upon such materials.

[ But it's already in her face, and as such the only possible response she could have to this is to redden and bring both hands up (now no longer glowing) to cover her eyes. Her orange face is looking just a little bit pink all of a sudden. ]

Are the rules not the same, here aboard the Panic? I have never seen such a shameless display...! How perverse...!

[ Fortunately(?) enough, Aomine isn't quite paying attention to anyone bellow his line of sight, hence why he's so carelessly shoving that comic on people's faces - well, that, and he's normally too rude to give a damn, anyway. So no glowing hands or eyes make it to his immediate perception.

The squeak, however, does catch his attention, and when he finally looks down, he spots a girl who seems to have been caught off guard by his less than stellar manners. Or maybe it's the plant porn; he didn't think it possible, but who knows, he might have found someone who is actually interested. ]

The hell if I know. [ The answer is offered with a shrug, and perhaps a little too much honesty. ] I mean, I'm under eighteen, too, and they hired me to sell this stuff so I don't think it matters. What's the worst they could do, anyway?

[ She's just going to reach up for his wrist, and if he lets her she'll gently push his hand down to move the comic out of her immediate line of sight. She seems to have recovered from her surprise rather quickly. ]

Then you are my age? [ Dude but you're so friggin' tall! What planet are you from??? ] I apologize. I misjudged your age based on your height. [ Teenager with no manners, meet the teenager with all the manners. Polar opposites GET. ]

Perhaps their system simply carries a different meaning, and no consequences will be necessary. Regardless, I believe the fault would be theirs for assigning you with such a task.

[ Why anybody would want a pool table in a lake is something Kagami can't answer. Why there's a lake on a spaceship is also something he can't answer. All in all, if asked questions about his job, Kagami really has no answers aside from telling someone what he's supposed to do: see if the pool table floats.

Following those instructions, he's currently pushing a large rolling cart with a pool table on top of it, heading in the direction of the nature reserve because he's pretty sure he'll find a lake there. He hopes.

And it's along the way that he happens across Aomine, who he assumes is heading home for the day. ]

Hey, do you know how to play pool?

[ Please give your answer careful consideration, Aomine. ]

[ "Careful consideration" and "Aomine" are not two things that normally go together in the same sentence, so Kagami should consider himself lucky his rival even stopped to give him any attention at all, considering his dire need for a nap. Having to work for a living is bad enough, and while the wide variety of fluffy critters he's got under his care are easy to get along with and even a little fun, dealing with customers drains him out.

In fact, customers piss him off about as much as Kagami does, but at least he doesn't have to muster inhuman strength to act like a decently polite human being to this idiot. ]

Ahn? What the hell kinda question is that? [ He shoots the cart a look, eyes narrower than usual - out of annoyance and sheer exhaustion. ] And why do you have a pool table with you, anyway?

[ Why he has a pool table is an excellent question and even Kagami is still questioning that himself given how ridiculous his task is. But even Aomine's company, as irritating as it can be, is preferable to trying to do this alone, which is why he bothers asking about playing in the first place. ]

I've gotta see if it floats. [ He leans against the cart, giving Aomine a thoughtful look. Pool isn't basketball, so he's not sure that competing in something like that is enough to win out over bed. Which is why Kagami looks from Aomine to the pool table then back. ]

If you come play, I'll push you on this. [ The offer is somewhat grudging as Kagami nods toward the pool table on top of the cart. ]
