Test Drive Meme

A quick rundown

Welcome to the S.S. Panic's Test Drive Meme! Here, you can post a top level post and/or respond to other characters in a variety of situations! As you will find if you glance at the map, the ship is a spider-shaped city that is essentially self-sustaining. It's powered by the Infinite Improbability Drive, which when in use allows for the improbable (and impossible!) to happen and become, well, possible!

Below, you will find an example of what a typical monthly job post will look like. To encourage tagging each other, characters who apply to the game after this test drive meme will earn 100 credits per tag they give to someone else. Considering that new refugees are only given a small amount of money to get them started (around 500 credits), this could be huge!

Normally, job posts (currently empty) will be posted on the last day of the month. Characters can begin working the jobs they sign up for on the 1st of the next month. These jobs will be posted early for the Test Drive Meme and can be considered the official jobs of the month.

For now, all jobs will be the lowest paying jobs at Level 5. As the months go on, Level 4, 3, 2 and 1 jobs will be added appropriately. All characters will begin at Level 5 except in very special, rare situations. Keep in mind that some jobs will remain a constant in job postings (Education, for example) while others will change monthly. Also, players may hire other characters themselves in the future through hiring page. Ordinarily, some jobs will have limited slots, but for the purposes of the Test Drive Meme, all jobs come equipped with unlimited slots.

Finally, if you choose to, you can make whatever happens during the Test Drive Meme game canon if you apply and you are accepted into the game. However, this is not required and if you don't want it to be canon but the players of your character's new CR do and vice versa, this is space with wormholes and the IID. Multiple instances of your character is possible, at least for this month.

If you have questions about how the game works, you can look at the gameplay page or post a question to the FAQ page. Remember, you don't have to post your character doing a job. You can have them arguing about the Babelfish, going shopping, having a fist fight with an alien, etc. The important thing is to have fun!

[Maggey's the sort that brushes a lot of things off. One has to be with her sort of luck after all. But boy does that rub her the wrong way. She ends up plopping her hands against her hips.]

Hey look, pal, I'm trying my best here! Sure I may look a little silly and maybe I'm a little goofy but I'm really trying to scare away these birds!

Heh. Is that all? They don't appear to be too frightened of you. [ And judging by Mordred's amused expression, she isn't either. ]

Ah, well...

[Okay, how can she argue with that? Sure she's scaring off the crows but not with the thorough ease Mordred is. It's like the blonde just existing is enough to make those crows back off.

Maggey sighs out in the end.]

You got me there. I guess I'm just not all that intimidating. I mean you're a whole lot more intimidating.

Naturally. [ Mordred grinned and walked out into the field. ]

Even without a compatible language, an animal knows when to be afraid of a stronger entity. If you lack the power you should at least try to make up for it in confidence. [ Is Mordred being... helpful? Mostly it's just an excuse to show off, but there's nothing to do at the moment so she figured she might as well. ]

Confidence.

[Maggey says the word as if she's mulling on it. She waves away the few crows who have gathered near her feet.]

Well... confidence is an awfully hard thing to have when you've got my sort of luck. I mean sometimes I do have it and I never think there's a job I just can't do but...

[ She cocked a brow and briefly frowned. ] What does luck have to do with it?

[ At that comment, Mordred glared down at one of the birds that just sort of stared back openly. It postured, too, but she was undeterred. There's no feeling in the air that these are somehow any special, magical crows, nor that anyone was watching over her, but one could never be too sure. ] Tch. Don't give in to superstitious nonsense. When they're in your way, just shout until they hear you and understand you.

If they still won't move... [ Mordred brandished her shovel like a weapon in one hand, pointing it right at another crow. It was beginning to make them nervous. ]

... I don't think birds will understand you no matter how much you yell at them, sir.

[She's a little mystified though. At least the crow does look nervous around the other woman whereas the crows around her...

Maggey glances down to the nearest crow. It's little beady black eyes reflect very little so Maggey tries to pull the sternest, angriest face she can. She squares up her shoulders like the other woman and sans shovel she points at the bird.]

I'm not intimidated by you!

[There's silence for a moment. Then the bird caws before turning to lazily fly away. It's pretty clear the bird just more or less left of it's own accord but Maggey turns to the other woman absolutely beams.]
